Observation #11

1854

Temp: 61f

Skies: Clear, moderate light pollution tonight. Overall, excellent viewing.

Jupiter and Saturn grow closer together. Through my 25mm lens I can see both planets. They are very bright in the sky tonight, and Jupiter's assortment of moons is plainly visible. Other easily visible bodies and constellations include Mars, almost directly above; and Cassiopeia to the North.

Switching to the 10mm lens, Saturn is well-defined with the 10mm lens and offers a clear view of her rings. Panning to Jupiter, I can clearly see this planet as well, and as it approaches the horizon I can see it moving across my field of view, and (though this may be some sort of cognitive distortion or optical illusion) I can almost see her pulling her moons along with her.

Calibrated the RA and moved to viewing Cassiopeia, focusing in on Messier 103. Quite an interesting cluster of stars, and the longer I look the more I can see.
